Lead Caregiver Job Description:

Home Instead is seeking Lead Caregivers to join our team. $14-15 per hour; We will train you for the job as needed. Some experience would be helpful but not required for the people with good professional work skills and work ethic. We are looking for Lead Caregivers to service the Lawrence, Topeka, Linwood, Ottawa, or Baldwin City areas.  Work in Douglas, Shawnee, and/or Franklin Counties. Its your choice and there is tremendous growth/income opportunities. Bilingual Spanish and English speaking Caregivers needed.  

The Lead Caregiver is expected to provide a variety of non-medical services that allow clients to remain in their homes and assist the clients and their families meet the challenges of aging with dignity, pride, care and compassion.  The goal for a Lead Caregiver is to develop a strong relationship with 1-3 clients for the purpose of providing the client and the caregiver a more fulfilling and personalized experience in a self-directed work environment.  The Lead Caregiver will be responsible to ensure the client’s caregiving team is trained to assist the clients with their activities of daily living and remain engaged in their hobbies and interests.  Along with the activities of daily living, Lead Caregivers will provide companionship, light housekeeping, personal care, and dementia care for clients.

Lead Caregiver Requirements:

  • Work a full-time schedule of a minimum of 32 hours a week, up to and including overtime
  • Must have availability weekdays Monday through Friday ranging from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 4 Saturdays and/or Sundays a month.  Average workday is typically 7 hours in length however longer shifts are available.
  • Reliable transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, possess valid auto insurance
  • Travel throughout the entirety of our county coverage area which includes Shawnee (Topeka) and Douglas (Lawrence) Counties.  
  • Perform on call shifts as scheduled.   Extra pay provided.
  • Ability to work 3 designated holidays per year.  Pay rate at time and half.
  • Must adhere to wearing masks and other personal protective equipment as required
  • 3 years of driving history; however, we can accommodate less than perfect records.
  • Motor vehicle, criminal background checks, and drug screening required.
